How long does it take?
It takes just about
15 minutes to start your batch of wine. During that time we will explain
each step of the wine making process, adding the required water,
measuring the temperature of the mixture, to ensure the ideal
fermentation temperature, and take a specific gravity reading for you.

How much
wine will I get?
Each
kit is designed
to make up to 30 bottles of wine, depending on how water is added, and
how much wine is left behind during the racking process. If it is
important to a customer to get exactly 30 bottles, we will "top up" with
a little water post racking", but many of our customers are realizing
that a fuller bodied product results by not "topping
up", and this is our most common request.

What do I have to do?
You must add the
yeast to the fermentation bucket, and return to bottle your wine when
your wine is ready. (When the yeast mixes with the natural sugars in the
juice mixture, alcohol is formed. Therefore you and you alone are making
the alcohol in the wine. )

What do you do?
We will move the
primary fermentation bucket to a temperature controlled environment for
the fermentation process to take place. We will tend to the wine daily;
checking to make sure everything is progressing nicely. The wine will be
racked twice over the next two weeks, and adding the required elements
along the way to stop fermentation, to clarify the wine, and filter the
wine with our 6 pad electronic system that removes any sediment. We will
call you a couple of days after filtering, to make a bottling
appointment, at your convenience, of course!

How difficult is the bottling process?
At each R&W Wine
location, you will have access to the most up to date electric bottling
equipment, which draws the wine from the carboy, and shuts off
automatically when each bottle is filled. The process is actually fun,
and is a great opportunity for you to meet other bottlers, and exchange
stories about your wine making experiences. At this time, we will show
you how to easily put the labels on your bottle, and then apply the
shrink top, guaranteeing a completely professional presentation of your
wine. The entire bottling process takes approximately 45 minutes.
